2024 JUNIOR DRAMA PRODUCTION

Show Dates: December 12–14, 2024

Any video/audio recording of this production is strictly prohibited.

Synopsis: In a whimsical fairytale kingdom, three princesses—Amber, Marine, and Opal—celebrate their first wedding anniversary with a garden tea party. Unfortunately, the witch and her bumbling goblin henchmen crash the party, prince-nap their husbands, and plot to ruin their “happily ever after.”

But these are no ordinary princesses (you know, the kind that wait around to be saved). Oh no, these princesses do their own saving! Determined to take down the witch, Amber, Marine, and Opal embark on a daring adventure through the marvelous Merry Meadow, the fantastical Fickle Forest, and across the lovely Lively Lake to rescue their husbands. Along the way, they encounter a groundhog construction crew, a heavy metal animal band, and a “fur”ocious forest court.

Will they find their husbands in time to save their celebration, or will it be an evil ever after? Join us for the Junior School Production and find out.

Director’s Note

On my first day of university, in my very first theatre class, I met my best friend. She introduced me to her roommate, who had a friend-of-a-friend in drama, and before I could even wish for it, my life was full of people who just got me. Fast forward, and that same group of people is a little older, a little wiser, and maybe just a bit more grey—but we still text in a group chat we started back in 2009.

At its heart, Witchful Thinking is a story about finding your people. It’s about those friends who come into your life and stay, no matter what—and I do mean no matter what. It’s a celebration of the friends who’ve cheered us on, seen us cry our eyes out, and even witnessed us act a little bit “witchy,” but stayed.

They may be goblins, but they make the best friends.

On behalf of the students, staff, and the entire CA community, I welcome you to this year’s Junior School production of Witchful Thinking. Thank you for being our people.
